Learning Development

At Princethorpe we strive to enable all our students to realise their full potential. For most of our students this is achieved within the curriculum.  We recognise however that some of our students have additional educational needs, most usually dyslexia, which require input by the Learning Development Team.

Headed up by Dr Gill Watkins, the Learning Development Team supports students in three main ways:

  • In class support
  • Small group work
  • Individual tuition

All students with identified additional educational needs are assigned a Learning Development teacher, who compiles an Individual Action Plan for them.  Each IAP gives details of the student’s:

  • Individual learning need
  • Standardised test scores
  • Priority targets

This information is reviewed on a termly basis.  Parents are kept fully informed as to the nature of the child’s need, the provision made to meet that need and progress made.

English Language Development

English Language Development
For pupils for whom English is not their first language we offer a support service, responding to pupils' individual needs and ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum.
