General Introduction
The school’s ethos is inspired by the College motto Christus Regnet - let Christ reign – a reminder of Christ’s love, service, forgiveness and generosity of spirit, and manifests itself in how pupils and staff treat each other and behave. Traditional values are respected, yet the school is very forward thinking.
Our pupils are expected to be honest and tolerant, to work hard, and to have high expectations about what they can achieve; a healthy balance between freedom and structure helps them develop self-discipline, confidence, social skills and independence.
We look to recognise and develop the unique talents of each individual. Pastoral care is seen as paramount, and the team of professionals provides a network to help, support and encourage. In keeping with the College's ethos, charitable and fund-raising activities are key features of school life.
Curriculum matters
A broad range of subjects and a stimulating and well resourced curriculum is on offer, aimed at fostering a love of learning. The curriculum develops each year so that it meets the needs of pupils.
Small groups allow for more personal attention from the teacher and a better learning experience, confirmed by fine examination results and conspicuous value-added achievements.
All pupils are streamed from Year 8 allowing them to be taught at a level which matches their ability and high fliers are stretched to ensure that they achieve their maximum potential. Those pupils with dyslexia have the support of the Learning Development team.

Outside the classroom
Sport features prominently. All the major sports are offered, but it’s also possible to try sports such as archery, trampolining, sailing, golf and basketball and to get involved in equestrian competitions. There is an extensive programme of inter-school fixtures and Princethorpe has a proud tradition of pupils gaining county, regional and international representative honours, not least Old Princethorpian Ian Bell of cricketing fame.
Artistic excellence
There is a flourishing Art Department, and the outstanding collection of award-winning canvases and ceramics on display around the school is testament to the creativity and talent of our pupils.
Music and drama are similarly blessed with extremely gifted and enthusiastic individuals. Many pupils learn instruments and join the orchestra or other musical groups. The college choir performs regularly and tours annually overseas.
Retreats and Chaplaincy activities give pupils the opportunity to consider the deeper aspects of life.
