Old Princethorpians

Old Princethorpians is our developing past pupils association.

We are interested in hearing from all past pupils and how they are faring in life post Princethorpe.

We have information on a large number of former pupils and will do our best to put friends back in touch with each other.

We are also seeking to establish an annual programme of social events and a Skills Bank whereby Old Princethorpians can support current pupils through mentoring, advice and guidance.

New OP's Venue Attracts New Faces

The OP’s latest London pub meet on Friday 18 June at the Coach and Horses in Wellington Street, Covent Garden saw some new faces as well as the old regulars amongst the 18 people who attended.

Amongst the new faces were Mark Rowley 2002 leaver, Ade Fashade 1984, Sean O’Hara 1977, as well as Gary and Jeremy Peacock who started at Princethorpe back in the very early days.

Sadly the contingent from Princethorpe who normally make the 90 mile trip were absent due to other commitments having just completed and announced the plans for Abbotsford School, Kenilworth to merge with Crackley Hall as part of WCISF.

Despite the pre-arranged date clashing with England’s World Cup match against Algeria a good number of people turned out for an evening which certainly outshone the football; finishing with a curry for the most enthusiastic revellers.

Commenting on the evening Nick Cahill said that he hoped the London based June meeting would become a permanent fixture in the OP calendar.

Reminiscing at OP's Picnic

The OP's Picnic just before the Summer Fete and Motoring Festival on Sunday 27 June was also well attended with previous regulars joined by some new picnickers this year including Ernest Springley and family and Jolyon Groves and his mother.

Leigh Middleton brought with him a selection of Princethorpe memorabilia which attracted much attention included a fascinating tenth anniversary College magazine from 1976 which you can click here to view.

Ian Twiggins and his wife added some style to the occasion by arriving in their pink Rolls Royce.

Thanks to all for joining in the fun!

Sun Shines For OPs Clarkson Festival Day

Glorious spring sunshine welcomed a host of OPs, their partners and families plus former members of staff back to the College on Sunday 18 April.

The day, which started with Mass in the Chapel, followed by a buffet lunch, was deemed a resounding success. Visitors, young and somewhat older, enjoyed tours of the College, including the rare opportuntity of venturing up the 180 odd steps to the top of the Tower for some fantastic views.

Archery and games on the Sixth Form Centre lawn kept everyone amused. Reminiscences abounded and OPs enthusiastically enjoyed spotting themselves and old pals in the College photos and names on the Dining Room boards.

Comments Peter Rollason, OPs Chairman, "It really was a splendid occasion, we saw quite a few faces who hadn't been back to the school for many years. And it was particularly lovely to see all the children enjoying their visit to Princethorpe!"
